Valve index

Information

Valve has mainly been helping other companies in developing VR headsets like HP and Oculus. But in 2019, they decided to release their own headgear that has changed the game completely. It's pricey, complicated, but it's fantastic when you get it up and running!

Gamers around the world are standing in line just to get one. So if you're looking for VR headgear to use straight away, we're sorry to tell you that you'll have to wait a few weeks before this fantastic piece of hardware is on your doorstep.

Games and Features – For SteamVR gamers, there is nothing that beats Valve Index. With this piece of equipment, you can enjoy all the big game titles on Steam, with great precision and fantastic resolution. Nothing beats it! It supports games up to 120Hz, giving you the smoothest transitions in gameplay. There is even a test upgrade now that can support up to 144Hz. With a 1440 x 1600 resolution per eye to give you detailed and colorful graphics that are perfectly adjustable to remove mura and give you a perfect rounding screen.

Graphics and Processor – Valve Index is for those who want the optimal experience in they're games, and that's why you also need a computer system to match. So this VR system is definitively for the advanced player who wants optimal resolution, frame rate, timing and precision in the game. You don't need the strongest processors on the market, but you do need a Nvidia GeForce GTX 970, AMD RX480 or equivalent to be able to use the VR headgear. RAM should be above 8GB, at the very least, so your computer system can handle games Valve Index was intended for.

Hardware and components - Unlike many other VR headgear you purchase, you need to set up the Vive base station. This is a rather time consuming task, but it's well worth the way when it's finally in place. The hand controllers are very comfortable to use and comes with a strap to ensure you don't accidentally break it during game play. The buttons are very intuitive with a joystick that is perfectly fitted to your hands. The main headset is easily adjustable to make sure you are comfortable wearing it for long periods of time.

Extras and prices – The highest quality costs more. For sure, Valve Index is not the cheapest headset you can get, and is it really worth spending $1000 dollars for? The only thing that drags down is the Quality of the Steam VR platform, which has nothing to do with the headgear. But we would rather prefer Valve making their own game platform to reduce glitching and performance of the games. But, SteamVR has improved over the years and is definitively more suited for VR games now than ever before. But it would be great if Oculus and Valve made a deal to access they're games as well, that would definitely be worth paying an extra couple of hundred dollars for, or a small monthly premium.

Conclusion –  If you want the best experience playing games like Half Life: Alyx or Skyrim V, you won't find any other VR headgear on the market that gives you the same experience when it comes to frame rate, sound and precision while you play. Valve Index takes the VR game to a whole new level, and is mostly intended for those who are heavily into gaming. The price tag is of course quite high, and is probably not suited for novice gamers. The base station gives you the smoothest transitions in gameplay, no matter how many extra cameras you put on the headgear. So this alone is worth every penny you put into the Valve Index.

Summary

The most advanced VR headgear on the market that supports games up to 120Hz for incredible frame rate and game precision.
