Information- Although there could be huge savings on building a computer by yourself, it's better to avoid the hassle if you've never done it before. The OMEN series from Computer Upgrade King is probably open to the most known brands for online gamers. But up until now, they really haven't been on top of the VR market. The OMEN 30L changes the game completely with an affordable and complete package for those with the highest standards in VR Gaming. With strong processing power, superb graphics, and loads of connectivity, there are a few other options on the market that really give more value for every penny you invest in a gaming computer.
Games and compatibility- The OMEN 30L will ensure that everything runs smoothly on online gaming platforms such as Steam, Viveport, etc. You will probably not find any games with compatibility issues, at least not the most popular titles on Steam like Beat Saber, Half-Life, Boneworks, Skyrim. The graphic and video card are more than enough to give you great translations in the game, so it's only up to the VR headset you use in terms of gaming experience. Recommended for Steam is the HTC Vive or Valve Index.
Graphics and Processor– The computer runs on an Intel Core i9 with 10 cores that are cooled in liquid to ensure it will run smoothly over long gaming sessions. It won't overheat even on the most challenging tasks you put in front of it. There is 32GB of integrated RAM, but this is of course upgradeable over time. For now, 32 is more than enough combined with the low consumption NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti graphics card, which has 11GB GDDR integrated to give extra power when needed. You see a lot of competitors stuffing in RAM as if that should solve any compatibility problems. But, the secret is the perfect combination of other components as well. The OMEN 32L has definitely been developed with this in mind.
Hardware and components- The computer is made out of sleek and elegant tempered glass and a full metal frame that ensures all the essential parts are well secured from damage. The tempered glass is also beneficial when it comes to cooling down the components, as it allows better airflow from the fans. The fans can also be adjusted to 3 different speeds, allowing power saving when you're not in a full-blown VR war on the computer. In terms of parts and components in the computer, we'd say this rig will probably last you around 4-5 years down the road without the need for any upgrades when it comes to VR gaming.
Extras and add ons– The computer is equipped with both wifi and Bluetooth, so you don't need to invest in this separately. The black wired keyboard is arguably one of the most compostable keyboards that come with a package deal like this. It's very nice to see ergonomic keyboards and a mouse included of such high quality. And let's face it, for gamers, it really isn't an option with wireless.
There is really nothing to add on here, except maybe some more RAM down the road, but that depends on the gaming development. But what you need to get separately is of course sound. Speakers are usually never included (at least not of very good quality) so this could set you back around $1000 if you want state of the art surround sound while you're playing VR games.
Conclusion– The OMEN 30L is a great rig you can enjoy for years to come. It's not just another shell packed with RAM, as all of the components work together seamlessly to create a high-performance computer built for the most advanced VR games.
But the rig does have quite a price compared to other competitors in the market. Not to mention that you do need a decent screen and sound system to match that could set you back an additional $500 depending on your needs.
I high-end desktop built for gamers to get the ultimate VR experience, with the capacity to handle any games on the market today.
