PSVR has become one of the most popular VR headsets on the market, mainly because of its accessibility because most people have a PS4 console at home. So why not take full advantage of the console and get an affordable VR headset with loads of fun games, right?
We're sure you and most people agree that that's the easiest way to go for a newbie in VR, with no compatibility headaches at all. Here we will go through some of our top games for the PSVR headset and hopefully have a great experience using it!
If you love zombie apocalyptic games, After the Fall could be right up your alley. Previously set to launch in 2020, many are eager to finally get to play this VR game in early 2021. The Developer Vertigo Games has stated it will be released in the first quarter of 2021. Well, that should be within a few weeks! Here we will cover why this game has been eagerly awaited, and what the game is all about.
In After the Fall, your mission is to save the human race! The setting is in Los Angeles after an apocalypse wiping out most of the human race. Basically, a new Ice Age where most of the survivors are mutants who were subject to a designer drug that made them adapt to the cold surroundings.
You however are one of the few left of the human race set to wipe out the mutants who are planning to get rid of the human race for good. It's basically Zombies on Ice... which would be a great title if it was a musical.
The Game Play is great visually, and you have a vast array of characters and monsters in the game to keep you entertained for hours. So if you're not tired of Zombie apocalyptic games, you will have a great time Playing After the Fall.
As we currently know, the game will be available on three different platforms- Steam, Oculus, and Playstation VR. So this game will reach out to a huge spectrum of players.
since graphics aren't terribly advanced the computer specs you need to play this game are not a deterrent. To be able to play After the Fall you will need:
For those who are wondering what Oculus headset they could use on this game, it's most likely available for both Oculus Rift S and the Oculus Quest 2.
Since even the PSVR can handle the game, We are pretty sure that Vertigo Games are also making a Quest version of After the Fall. But unfortunately, there is little credible information to find whether both headsets will be able to run the game.
The setting is in 2005 and the apocalypse happened in the 1980s. It's a bit unknown why Vertigo Games have chosen to set After the Fall back in time, as it would seem more natural if the game was set in a nearby future.
So this is a completely alternative universe that really doesn't really make any sense in the storyline. But with that said, don't think too much!
Your mission is to save the human race, you don't have time to contemplate trivial issues like this. With a chemically enhanced snow breed lurking behind every corner to try and kill you, your shooter skills need to be focused and on point.
Put on a fan, nausea bracelets, or whatever you have to control your motion sickness because it's about to get heavy!
Star Wars: Squadrons is completely dedicated to air combat, and you will get to fly a starfighter to experience the dog fights in this first-person adrenaline-packed game. But the motions can be a bit much for some players, so stay away if you're easily affected by fast-moving camera angles and speed.
You are in command of your very own X-wing or TIE fighter, and you will need to learn these fighter planes in and out before you can conquer the enemy. But with step-by-step learning, as you go setup, this will be a breeze. I bet you'll learn these advanced aircraft faster than anything here on earth. If not, the enemy will surely get you!
The scenery is breathtaking, with large new planets to discover, and amazing fight scenes in space that will definitely get your blood pumping.
In this game, you are in charge of your own fleet of starfighters that you will be responsible for. The universe's fate depends on your outcome. How's that for pressure...
In order to make sure you succeed, you have the ability to customize your starfighter in Star Wars: Squadrons, and load it with your favorite weapons to conquer your enemies. Everything in the cockpit does take some time to get used to, and finding where everything is when the heat is on is definitively challenging in this game.
EA is the developer of the game and has chosen to release it for PC and PS4. So both console and PC players have a chance to join in in this epic battle in Star Wars: Squadrons.
But of course, the PC version is recommended, as the fast gameplay in this game is much smoother than on a PS4/PS5 console.
In order to enjoy the game fully on a computer, you will need:
You will also need around 40GB of space on the computer, so this game is not for the cheapest gaming setups out there. You should have a 7 series processor as well to make sure for smooth gameplay.
A fine action-packed game that will suit those who really don't want any lengthy storyline or strategic gameplay. Here, your mission is to learn the aircraft through training and head on to battle- it's that simple.
For this reason, it is easily one of the most fun first-person aircraft games on the market today, because Star Wars: Squadrons is so immersive and action-packed all the way.
But still, this is not a game for the cheapest headsets, because you do need a good viewing angle and a clear resolution when you are playing high-speed games for comfort. Plug this game in with a Rift S and you'd be hurling on the floor in no time.
Acclaimed to be the best first-person shooter game for the PSVR. Sony Interactive developed the game back in 2017 and has since been one of the best-selling VR games for PlayStation, with critics agreeing that this game is an action-packed game no one should miss out on. For those who are new to VR and thinking about getting a PSVR as a starting point, this is definitively a game that is going to get you hooked on VR.
We will go through all the details of what you need to enjoy this game fully, so read in to get the full picture of the Farpoint VR experience.
In this VR game, you end up stranded on an alien planet 800,000 light-years away from earth. You are captain Etha Tyson with her colleague
Dr. Grant Moon studying a radiation field in the atmosphere and...bam! You get sucked into a black hole leading to a strange planet that has many secrets to uncover.
Your teammates are scattered all around the planet, and the space station you lived on is completely destroyed.
Hunted by an alien spider breed, getting back home won’t be that easy. With your space station completely ruined in the crash, it will take a long time to get the pieces back together.
You also need to find all of the survivors after the crash so they can help you with repairing the ship. That is...if the giant spiders don’t get to them first…
The gameplay is smooth and intuitive but, sometimes you need to use the old nugget as well trying to piece back together with the broken spaceship. So this is a challenging game, and still action-packed for those who aren't great at solving puzzles.
Since it’s for PlayStation, the only equipment you need is a PSVR headset to get started for your PS4 or PS5. But we do recommend using the PSVR aim controller to get the best shooter experience possible in the game.
A simple hand controller just won't cut it when you need to precisely aim at a faced paced target like these spiders. The game also supports online play, with 2 online players at once if you have a PS Plus subscription.
But if you prefer single play, all of this is optional of course. But it is more fun being able to share the experience with a friend.
Although this is a good first-person VR shooter game for the PSVR, still it lacks a bit of surprise. For a person very used to these types of games, it could become a bit predictable.
The alien spider breed only attacks you from the front and doesn't’ really have any surprises up their sleeve.
So if this game was for anything other than VR, the experience would be quite boring. But since all the action is happening right in front of you, still it gives you chills down your spine sometimes when the enemy attacks.
A bloody ridiculous mess you will get hooked on quite easily. If you’re looking for an action-packed fighting game to burn calories on, this is the title for you.
With incredibly badly made characters and completely ridiculous fighting skills, you’ll probably laugh more at the brutality of this game than being disgusted.
Since the VR relaunch of this game on Oculus in January 2021, this game has risen to one of the top sellers on the platform- and, it’s not because of a lack of exciting titles to play.
You can choose to play against the computer or be ripped apart by players all around the world in this game. In Gorn you are a gladiator of ridiculous proportions, a complete testosterone bomb that has just one thing on his mind- slay the other humongous beast in the ring with him.
The responsiveness and overall gameplay are really good in Gorn, with very little lag in movement and intuitive gameplay. You'll learn how to rip your opponent's arms off, and beat your other opponent to death with them quite fast.
In the ring, you'll have plenty of fun weapons to slay your opponents with as well. Anything from axes to balls and chains is at your disposal to maximize damage.
For those who are faint of heart, we don't think you'll be affected by the violence in the game as everything is very unrealistic and more humorous compared to Mortal Combat or similar games.
There really is nothing out there that can't handle this game. Either you are playing on a computer or a standalone headset, it's available on most platforms.
The game was also introduced on PSVR a few months back, so any VR player can enjoy this spectacular gory game. If your planning to play the game on a computer you will need:
Most gamers out there usually have much higher specs than this, so very few will need any upgrades to handle this masterpiece!
It a ridiculously brutal game that takes you back to the good old days where killing was considered entertainment. Here you'll re-experience the golden era of gladiator combat. But set your perimeters straight before you start playing this game.
Otherwise, you'll experience Gorn to be one of the most expensive game titles you've ever bought. Players have been known to kick in doors, smash windows and furniture while playing Gorn, so keep everything valuable at a safe distance.
Many also refer to this game as "Beat Saber" for lunatics, because you get a pretty hefty workout in the arena swinging large hatchets at your opponent and whatnot. So if you're looking to lose weight and also let off some steam while you’re at it, this is the perfect game for you!
